Applicants from the
civilian sector:
The OCS staff will coordinate with the AZ Army National Guard Recruiting
Command regarding OCS Enlistment Option candidate initial entry training and placement into the next OCS class. Once an
applicant has completed initial entry training, they will be transferred
to Pre-OCS at the RTI. An applicant will remain in Pre-OCS until
the start of the next OCS class, where they will learn the skills
necessary to succeed in OCS and gain the confidence in their leadership
ability in a low stress environment.
Applicants from AZ
National Guard Units must include endorsements from their current chain of
command. These applicants will remain in their current unit until the
start of the next OCS class.
Step
3:
OCS
Selection Board
After the application packet is complete and all supporting documents are
received
the applicant will be required to appear before an OCS Selection Board
for final recommendation into an OCS Program. The RTI conducts
the OCS Selection Board. This
is conducted in a formal setting, similar to a job interview. The board
usually consists of three officers who will review the OCS application
packet and ask further questions. Applicants should be prepared to
discuss their military career goals, reasons why they would like to be a
commissioned officer, and how their commissioning will benefit both
themselves and the AZ National Guard.
Step
4:
Acceptance into OCS
An applicant, now called an officer candidate (OC) makes final
preparations, coordinates with supply and administrative personnel to
ensure they are prepared to begin OCS.
Step
5:
Attend OCS Orientation
Approximately two weeks prior to the start of an OCS Class, we conduct an
extensive orientation. This gives OCs an opportunity to meet each other
and begin to form class leadership and make the necessary plans to ensure
all candidates are ready for success.
This also provides an opportunity for family members, significant others
and employers to hear firsthand the level of commitment that will be
required from the Soldiers and their support system.
