A Company, 7-158 th Aviation Regiment is headquartered at Ft. Hood, TX with one platoon located at Ft. Carson, CO. Under our peacetime task organization we fall under the 7-158 th Aviation Regiment located at Ft. Hood, TX which is a direct reporting unit to the 244 th Aviation Brigade (United States Army Reserve) located at Ft. Sheridan, IL. We are a CH-47 unit with 12 CH-47D’s, three of which are located at FOB Salerno task organized under Task Force Desert Hawk.

As a Heavy Lift Aviation asset, most missions are in a Combat Support role. This is a wide spectrum of missions to include re-supply operations, troop movements and sling loading of equipment. Many of the FOBs in Afghanistan are only accessible only by air; therefore aviation assets are critical to sustainment.

We continue to enjoy being part of the Task Force Desert Hawk team. FOB Salerno is a nice place to call home during our deployment, and we have made many friendships that will continue in the years beyond this deployment. Thanks to all the family members who continue to support your deployed soldiers, we could not do it without you.
