Joint Substance Abuse Prevention, Treatment and Outreach Program (PTO)

The PTO program is available to Service Members and their Families to help with the Prevention, Treatment and Outreach of drug and alcohol abuse. 


Prevention - Substance abuse awareness, prevention and reintegration training is conducted by the State Prevention Coordinator (PC) at the unit level and is provided for all soldiers, airmen and their families.

Treatment - Providing resources and referrals for service members and their families within their local communities. In many situations the PC can locate resources to help with the financial impact of substance abuse treatment.

Outreach 
Reaching out to military families and community organizations, resources, and coalitions to provide collaborative support, training, and relationship building with in our communities.

The PTO program provides training materials to assist in the Arizona National Guard substance abuse awareness training for Service Members, regardless of duty status, and their family. If requested, Substance Abuse education may be provided to other groups and organizations.

The PTO program can also assist in informational referrals for both service members and family members. If a service member or a family members is in need of help for substance abuse or mental health issues, they can contact the PTO Office for assistance.

Limited Use Policy

If you or someone you know is abusing alcohol or drugs, it is best to admit the concern to your chain of command so they can help before you get caught.  If you admit your abuse and request help, you may be protected from any adverse action taken against you.  Self-referrals may be protected under AR 600-85 and AFI 44-121.  You should contact your chain of command or the PTO office for assistance. 

Substance Abuse Assistance - As part of the Arizona National Guard's ongoing commitment to assist our Soldiers and Airman in obtaining resources for all their needs, there is a Joint Substance Abuse Coordinator available to provide resources for substance abuse related issues/concerns.
