When a Mental Health Crisis Occurs:

A mental health crisis refers to a severe disturbance of mood, thoughts, or behavior. It is usually a condition which requires immediate attention and  intervention. Situations  may include:

  • Thinking about suicide or trying to end your life;
  • Experiencing sensations that aren’t real and/or beliefs that can’t possibly be true;
  • Violence or aggressive and agitated feelings or actions;
  • Rapid changes in behavior or mood;
  • Extreme emotions, attitudes, and behaviors surrounding weight and food issues which have led to anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder;
  • Experiencing medication side effects.
